In October 2010, I published my first book, a novel called Mulligan.
I did some research.
And I found out things are hard for the small-press publishers these days: many are closing, others are losing their paper providers, etc. Almost no one accepts unsolicited novels right now…unless I wanted to change the story and make it about Born-Again Tea Party Christian Detectives, Lesbian Firefighters, or Canadians. And become one of those, myself (lesbian firefighter might not be so bad, although I DO like hockey).
Because of this, I had to go the very cheap self-publishing route, and put it out as an eBook first. Hopefully I’ll sell enough of them to be able to do a print version later. Mostly because I want one, too. But eBooks are becoming a big chunk of the market, and the chance presented itself to do this now.
So I present you with four virtual manila envelopes to choose from:
- Learn more about Mulligan by visiting http://mulligan-novel.tumblr.com . Links along the top will give you a little insight on the story and the characters, as well as a link for ordering the book.
- Throw caution to the wind and buy the eBook right now, by stampeding to this link. You’ll have download options, including Kindle, Sony, Nook, Stanza, Palm, Droid (soon if not yet), and iPad (a friend in Australia says it looks awesome on his iPad). There’s also versions you can read on your computer if you don’t have an eBook device of some kind. The same is true of For Four Players.
- If you shop at the Barnes & Noble NOOKbook store, and would rather buy it there for your Nook…Clickity.
- Say to yourself either “I hate reading on the computer” or “Tommie wrote it…how good could it really be?”, and click the “X” in the upper right corner of this window. No harm, no foul.
I hope you enjoy the story. Just by buying it, you accomplish something a 15 year-old guitar player didn’t think would ever happen.
And if you want to talk about either book, you can always reach me at tealsea@gmail.com.
Thanks for giving me some time, and for considering giving me quite a bit more.
